Babies of the world

A Lady of the music a few years ago sang ...

“I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be…”

(W.H., 1986)

Vertical lines

Chrysler building, NYC

I like skyscrapers

Montréal, Downtown
I like their designs
Brussels
I like the light that is reflect on their vertical walls, and this is one of the reason for my photographic inspiration
Top of the Rock, NYC
I like the beautiful and open view that you can have when you stay on the top
Wall Street, NYC
But I also like the sense of vertigo that a skyscraper gift to you looking it from the bottom up
Pier 17 backdropped by the towering buildings of Manhattan, NYC
I like simply the name: SKYSCRAPER… it’s funny and a good way of describing it

I loved the sentence that Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (a 20th century American writer) used to describe the Big Apple. He called New York City "Skyscraper National Park". And I agree with him, especially when I look the skyline of a metropolis. I think that the vertical city is the future, so we must build a comfortable and ecofriendly “vertical wood”.

DailyShot

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Dreams really do come true ooh Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops thats where you'll find me oh
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can't I?...

DailyShot

Today consulting weather forecast for New York, with my great surprise, I‘ve read: ”Decreasing cloudiness with temperatures rising towards the upper 59°F”…about 15°C!!!! I didn’t believe it!!! Here, in the North of Italy we have snow, ice and polar temperature (below zero), and worse previsions for the week-end.
So, the DailyShot is a tribute to one of my favourite city into the world:
New York City

I took this picture in October 2009 when the temperature was about the same of today (in a strange December)
